Description

Second Chance is a romantic thriller by renowned American author Iris Johansen . The Spanish edition was published by Urano in 2000 , with 386 pages , translated by Roser Batalla Barrachina . It is a standalone novel and does not belong to any of the author's more well-known series, such as Eve Duncan or Sedikhan.

Synopsis:
Nell Calder is a shy and kind woman, a wife trying to please her ambitious husband, a mother who loves her young daughter passionately. In short, she is not the kind of woman capable of inspiring envy, desire, or murderous passions. But tragedy strikes one night on an exotic Aegean island, during an elegant gathering where her husband hoped to culminate his career in finance. A ruthless attack ends the life of her daughter and leaves Nell horribly disfigured.

Now, plotting her revenge is all that keeps her alive. Her former docility has given way to a relentless will, and her gentle timidity has transformed into a purpose as hard as steel. Her daughter's killer cannot live any longer. She will kill him with her own hands.

Cosmetic surgery does more than repair her shattered face: it transforms her into a beautiful woman. However, the wounds of her soul run too deep. Nell has lost the will to live... until Nicholas Tanek , an enigmatic and attractive man, offers her a reason to fight. Nicholas seems to know too much about her and was present at the scene of the attack. Nell doesn't trust him, but he's the only one who can help her find the killer. An unexpected attraction develops between them, unfolding subtly as Nicholas teaches her self-defense and prepares her to confront her past.
